This is the Fredonia Methodist Church alongside Fish Creek in southern Marshall County, West Virginia. Many Darrah's attended services here in the 19th and 20th centuries, and several are under those headstones that you see.
An exploration of the surname Darrah and its several variants, and especially the descendants and affiliated families of Henry Darrah of York and Greene Counties, Pennsylvania.

33. Levi Darrah Stone Weathering Badly
Many Darrah headstones were constructed of soft and poor quality stone, so I urge Darrah researchers to copy or do rubbings while they are still somewhat legible.

32. Pension File Tells A Lot About William Darrah
William, son of Henry 2nd, was 6' tall, big for a Civil War soldier; hazel eyes, also unusual; and he contracted asthma while on guard duty in 1863. He survived the war and did get a pension, as did his wife and his daughter.

30. Franklin School, Brooke County, West Virginia
My Dad and several of his siblings attended this school during the 1920's and 30's. I was able to get some student record cards on them at the District office.

29. Peter Darrah: Dirt Track Racer
My Dad (in the seat) was an outstanding mechanic and welder, and he and his friend Scoops Vanaman built this midget racer in 1953 across the street from the Middle Creek Garage, where Dad worked part time.
They hauled the car all over the Ohio Valley area, racing on short dirt tracks. I think this was the cleanest the car ever was again.

28. Nancy Jo Darrah Litman, July 9, 1941-May 28, 2018
My sister Nancy died a few months ago, leaving me as the sole survivor of our nuclear family. The two of us came out of our parent's WW2 separation and divorce with a few scars, but managed to put together good long lifetimes. She outlived her husband Don Litman and left her three children, Teri, Don, and Jon, to mourn her passing in Wheeling, WV.

27. My Dad's WW2 Draft Card
I guess World War Two is now getting far enough in the past for records to get online. I noticed that my Dad listed his mother as his main contact instead of his wife, my mother. Wonder what that was all about?
